Minimalism: The Kitchen

I wanted to write a post about how we tackled the kitchen on our journey towards living a minimalist lifestyle. Yesterday I shared with you guys how we tackled Gaby's room. Over the next few weeks I will share some of my progress and how I went about tackling different rooms in our home.

So we started the kitchen by re-organizing the cabinets. We got rid of the many pots and pans we never used or that were clearly too old. We also went through all the canned goods and threw out anything that was expired. I even purchased on amazon a pots and pans organizer that definitely helped clean things up a bit.

Then I wanted to minimize the clutter we had on the counters. I had made space in the cabinets, so I was able to fit things in them now that used to live on the countertops. We had something we used to store our bread, but that is now gone and our bread lives in one of the drawers with the cereal. I still left the toaster on the counter and a holder for some cooking utensils. Outside of that, our countertops are pretty clutter free.

The kitchen might be the only room I feel is complete. But in a few months, who knows, I might realize there are more things I can get rid of. Thats the beauty of minimalism, it doesn't happen overnight, this is a process. Minimalism is a lifestyle.
